Collegiate Nursing Academy
Application Due: January 19, 2024
The Collegiate Nursing Academy is designed to provide students a learning experience in healthcare that exposes
participants to the Nursing profession, the educational expectations and academic rigor expected of those who
plan to enter the nursing field, clinical experience, and the necessary preparation to earn the Certified Nurse
Assistant (CNA) certification.
All participants will receive instruction from college-level faculty at William Jewell College for their required 75
hours of coursework and 100 hours of real-world clinical experience with teaching nurses at Liberty Hospital. All
students who successfully complete the required coursework will be eligible to sit for the state of Missouri CNA
certification exam. Students who successfully achieve certification are guaranteed an employment interview with
Liberty Hospital.

This program allows high school juniors and seniors attending MCC-Maple Woods to take college classes in the mornings or afternoons on Maple Woods' campus. Students will get high school and college credits. If accepted, students can drive or take the bus to morning or afternoon college classes.
STEPS:
1. Complete application. (OPEN)
2. Apply to Maple Woods. Go to MCCKC.EDU
3. Take the ACCUPLACER if you do not have an ACT score or do not meet the ACT score requirement.
The Accuplacer is FREE! You must apply to MCC at www.mcckc.edu to get a student ID number. Option #1-Testing begins at 8am M-F, at Maple Woods. Call 816-604-1000 for more information -- Option #2- (OPEN) LNHS will host the Accuplacer on February 14th at 8:00 AM. Limited to the first 40 students. LNHS Accuplacer Registration. Scores will be available immediately and sent to Dr. Saluri to complete the application requirements.
4. Submit your ACCUPLACER score report to Dr. Kelly Saluri (kelly.saluri@lps53.org) if taken directly at MCC.
Application Due: February 6, 2024
This college level course is intended for seniors who are considering pursuing teaching as a profession. Students will be assigned a classroom in the district in order to gain teaching experience as they assist the mentor teacher with classroom preparation, tutoring, small group learning activities, and whole group instruction. Students will also engage in pedagogical studies and instructional projects that explore classroom culture, literacy, theories of learning, and other educational issues. Strategies are aligned to local, state, and national standards for college and career readiness.
Students will enroll in 1.0 credit of EIP Theory and Practice and 1.0 credit of EIP Field Experience

Are you a current sophomore or junior interested in interning for LPS or a business or company in the community next school year? Complete this form by February 16, 2024. You have the opportunity to apply for an internship. If accepted, your counselor will work with you to remove 2 elective classes to fit the internship class in your schedule.
